All final design and printing decisions are at the sole discression of ShirtPrize. Because of the nature of this art medium there are some instances that modification of design, including but not limited to color choice or usage, is necessary; ShirtPrize does its best to honor the artist's design direction and will do our best to maintain design integrity at all times.
COLORS & LAYERS
The maximum number of colors that can be used in each design is 4, see additional information on color usage below. Each specific color must be named, and created on it’s own unique layer within the design.
If specific color matching is requested, please specify the Pantone Matching System colors used in your design (PMS). Simply putting “red”, “yellow” or not naming a color is not sufficient.
Shirt colors available are black, white, grey, red, orange, yellow, blue, pink, purple, green, brown and tan. If your shirt wins a ShirtPrize contest and is printed, ShirtPrize will attempt to match your shirt color as close as possible.
IMPRINT AREAS
The following are the MAXIMUM print areas for Shirt Prize. Anything smaller in any direction is acceptable.
Pocket Logo: 4”W x 4”H
Adult Full Size:
Medium, Large & XLarge: 13.5”W x 15”H (Front or Back Print)
Small: 10.5”W x 14”H (Front or Back Print)
The total number of imprint areas is 2, for the ShirtPrize contest the sleeves are not imprintable.
ShirtPrize will showcase and/or print your design on either crew neck or v-neck tshirts.
DIGITAL ART REQUIREMENTS
Shirtprize uses Apple computers. Files in PC formats are not guaranteed to be usable.
Preferred file formats: Adobe Illustrator CS4 or older, Adobe Photoshop CS4 or older,
Macromedia Freehand 10 or older and Corel Draw (export files as “ai”). PC and Apple versions of these programs must have all text converted to outlines or vector art. We also request that all fonts used in the design be included with the art file (MAC fonts only).
Artwork created in Photoshop or other related paint programs usually needs to be recreated or manipulated for our separation purposes and art charges may be incurred. TIFF formatted files should be at 100% and have a resolution of 300 dpi or greater. JPEG and GIF files will require additional art time for cleanup due to their low resolution.
TEMPLATE
Each submission must contain a tshirt template (mock-up) layer showing where the design will “fit” on the shirt. This should also be contained as a separate layer in the file. This is for reference purposes to inform the artists and printers where the actual print will be.
SUGGESTIONS or NOTES
Please feel free to add a separate layer of black text with specific notes for clarification with your design. Please also include a specific phone number that you can be reached at directly

Explanation of Submission Decline Reasons
Unnecessary Use of Multiple Colors
We realize that it may be enticing to run up to the 4-color maximum we allow, but we also like to stay realistic about what is and is not necessary for a design. If we strongly feel that the number of unique colors used in a submission doesn’t add anything to the design, it’ll be declined. The use half-tones for multiple shades of a single color, or eliminating small areas of colors in the details is a good way to avoid being declined for this reason.
Artwork Contains Copyrighted Material
A submission will be declined if it contains copyrighted material. Pop-culture inspired designs sometimes have legal issues we would rather not flirt with. If this is the case with the artwork, we’ll decline it.
Submission Contains Model or Image Used Without Permission
A submission will be declined if it contains images used without permission. We're all for the use of other elements to enhance a presentation, but permission must be given to use image(s) that do not belong to you. We suggest using one of our beautiful faces in your presentation!
Submission Deemed Inappropriate
A submission can be declined if it contains material or themes that make us feel a little uneasy. So keep it clean!
Not Printable
A submission can be declined if it’s impossible to translate the artwork to a tee. It’s rare that we’ll throw in the towel on a submission, but if an idea is just too crazy to be printed,
we’ll decline it.
Artwork Has Too Many Colors
ShirtPrize allowa a maximum of 4 unique colors in designs submitted to ShirtPrize.
Submissions may be declined if the design contains more than 4 colors. Each shade of a color counts toward the four color limit, as do black and white.
